Under-Mount Hardware
We Notch and drill supply and install all brands of under-mount hardware.
Note: Under-mount hardware is mounted underneath the drawer and is not visible from the side when the drawer is open. In order to install the hardware on the drawer, the drawer must be notched through the back beneath the bottom to receive the slide and holes need to be drilled for the pin and the locking devices. Blum, Hettich, Grass & Mepla Under-Mount drawer slides in-stock now.
Guidelines for using under-mount hardware
  • Each manufacturer has different specifications and results can vary from one model to the next
  • Any time a new model or application of drawer slide is used, a trial installation is recommended to check the tolerances and determine the setback from the front of the cabinet
  • Different drawer thicknesses require different drawer widths and lengths and can effect mounting locations of the hardware in the cabinet.
  • When using pull-outs with a thicker front , the length of the drawer is also different
  • Some models are better suited for face frame installation than others because some have available rear mounting brackets and some can attach to the face frame, others do not.
  • Under-mount hardware uses up at least 1/2<94> of space below the drawer itself
  • Drawer bottom placement is always critical when using under-mount hardware
  • Special screws are often required for mounting the slides to the cabinet
  • Some models have more adjustability than others, up, down, side, in, or out.
  • Under-mount hardware extends past the back of the drawer by at least 1/2<94>, So be sure to allow enough clearance in the cabinet behind the drawer for the hardware
  • Locking mechanisms can usually be purchased separately from the slides and can be installed by Western Dovetail.

The new drawer optimizes the space for utensils. Curved front drawers can now be made at any angle with fronts or backs made to the curved profile or radius of the customer’s choice. Drawers can also be made at any angle with true dovetails made to fit perfectly. Curved front drawers can also be used in corners with a concave curved front.


Drawer Tip
Standard drawers are made with the assumption that a drawer face will be added to the front and the back will not be seen. When finish is applied, the fronts and backs may have only a sealer coat and will not be sanded unless premium finish is selected.
