Western Dovetail moved into the old "Jointer's Shop" at Mare Island in August of 2003. The 100 year old building on the former Navy base has a long history of woodworking. Some of the original equipment is still in use, including the central dust collection. This historic facility allows the company to stock more materials, reduce lead-time and offer more options while maintaining all operations in-house. Western Dovetail is now even more prepared to meet the growing demand for dovetail drawers without sacrificing quality.
The Staff at Western Dovetail are Dovetail Drawer Experts.
Each employee is carefully trained, with an emphasis on quality, safety and efficiency. The company provides an opportunity for people interested in woodworking to learn valuable skills in a safe working environment. Many of the employees have been with the company for over 10 years. The sales and customer service staff are trained to handle even some of the most difficult questions.
Hans Brede is the National Sales Manager and personally visits custom shops in the surrounding areas.
Dana Nunes works at the front desk and handles customer service and inside sales.
Matt Moller works at the back desk and handles technical support and job scheduling.
Oscar Madrigal handles all the billing and accounting.
Drawer Tip
Standard drawers are made with the assumption that a drawer face will be added to the front and the back will not be seen. When finish is applied, the fronts and backs may have only a sealer coat and will not be sanded unless premium finish is selected.
